What Will $72 Million Buy You?
Monday Markets: What Will $72 Million Buy You?
Today, I’m starting a new weekly blog theme, called Monday Markets. Each week, I’ll be featuring a multi-million dollar home in the Los Angeles area. These homes offer the best in luxury living, for a very high price. Although these homes are beyond the realistic price range of the majority of people (especially this week’s selection), it’s fun to get a brief glimpse into the lives of the handful of people who can afford homes in this price level.
This week’s French provincial style home features ten bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, and a large heated pool. There is a movie viewing room, a marble fireplace in the master bedroom, and vaulted ceilings throughout the home. This property is the pure essence of the good life.
The size of this home is nothing short of amazing. For comparison, an acre is 43,560 square feet. At approximately 48,000, this home is almost 20 times larger than most average homes. There is a library, den, office, breakfast area, and even a wine cellar. Most of the floors are marble, stone, or hardwood, and the hallways are full of decorative arches.
Buyers of this home will enjoy being able to show off the custom woodwork, detailed trim in each room, and the sheer scope of the design. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into creating this home, and there was no expense spared when building. Only the very best materials were used. The listing offered no details of the kitchen, except to say that it comes complete with top of the line features, but I’d imagine that, considering the size of the rest of the home, it’d be nothing short of a culinary enthusiast’s dream come true.
One of the best qualities of the home is the grounds. The entire home is built above the original land, with cement walls holding up the added height. This provides a lot of privacy without sacrificing the view of the mountains, ocean, and city. The pool goes right up to the edge of the wall, allowing swimmers to enjoy the view while in the water, or while sitting on the patio near the pool.
This home is something off of a movie set, and not something that most people would be able to afford, or even need. Even if you have a large family, and a lot of overnight guests, most of this home will go unused most of the time. Many people feel that there are some homes that are just too big, and this property would fall into that category. Still, if you are looking for the very best home that money can buy, this might be the property you are searching for.
